Zhanshan Temple is located at southwest of Zhanshan in East Qingdao and east part of Taiping Mountain. It is the only Buddhist temple located in the in urban district. The construction began in 1933 and was completed in 1945. The area occupied is 15,333 square meters. There are two stone lions at the entrance and was passed down from the Ming Dynasty. In front of the temple is the lotus flower pond where it is for setting captured animals free. In the courtyard are Daxiong temple, Sansheng temples, Tianwang temple and the guest-quarters. Behind the palace is the Buddhist scriptures building where it contains old Tibet Buddhist literature of over 6,000 volume and ancient images of Buddha. There is a seven level hexagon brick tower on the east side behind the temple. The south side of the temple faces the Yellow Sea. Its east, west, and north faces the Fu Mountain, Zhan Mountain and Taiping Mountain respectively .The mist fluctuates and the landscape seems boundless.
